St Peter & St James Hospice Open Garden 1-5pm

St Peter & St James Hospice, North Chailey.

We launch our Open Gardens scheme this year with our very own Hospice Open Garden, Saturday 18th May, 1-5pm at our beautiful grounds in North Chailey.

You can bring the whole family along for a lovely afternoon, you will find bargains from the hospice retail team, a chance to enjoy locally made cakes and refreshments, plant sales, and raffles.  We will also be joined by Burgess Hill Shed, a community craft workshop.

Wander at you own pace and admire our grounds that are all managed by our volunteer gardeners, as well as taking a stroll around the woodland walk, and don't forget to meet the two most mischievous members of the hospice team; the donkeys Dudley and Dylan.

Dogs on leads welcome.

The whole Open Garden season, which runs from May until September will see over 50 local gardens in the local community, exclusively open their gates to the public to raise vital funds for local hospice care. In 2023 the Open Garden scheme raised over an incredible £50,000 of much needed funds for the hospice.

There are a number of village garden trails taking part this year, Ditchling, Plumpton, Lindfield, Ringmer, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks and Burgess Hill are all taking part; many with new gardens added. Alongside these ever popular trails are many stunning individual gardens, including Sutton Farm, Old Jarretts Farmhouse, Marshalls Mannor all of whom are supporting the hospice for the first time.

There is a wide variety on offer at all the gardens with everything from ancient woodlands, and stunning formal gardens to pretty cottage planting. You’ll find many venues offering plant stalls as well as the chance to enjoy refreshments in the beautiful gardens including tea, coffee and cake.

St Peter & St James Hospice provide end of life care and support for everyone in our community. All proceeds from ticket sales, refreshments and stalls will go towards providing the best possible care, in the right place, at the right time, to everyone who needs it in the local community.
